Cary's Bio
Cary Stump has earned the designations of Certified Retail Real Estate Professional (CRRP), Certified Development Professional (CDP), and Certified Retail Property Executive (CRX) from the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC).
From 2012 to 2017, Cary was Chief Estimator and AVP Preconstruction Services with a group of five preconstruction managers for Macerich, providing
preconstruction services for projects from $1 million to $500 million.
From 2004 to 2012, Cary was Chief Estimator and VP of the Project Services Group with up to 14 estimators and schedulers for U.S. Westfield. During this
eight-year period, estimates were prepared for projects that proceeded to Grand Opening with $1.2 billion of construction cost. Comparing the project construction budget approved early in the design
phase to final construction cost, 81% of these projects were within 5%.
Cary served as Chief Estimator for Bayley Construction from 1999 to 2004. Retail clients included Taubman, General Growth Properties, Mills Corporation,
Irvine Company, Caruso, and Excel Legacy.
From 1980 to 1999, Cary held positions of Project Manager, Project Executive, and Director of Preconstruction Services for Centex Golden Construction Co., the largest general contractor in San Diego. Work included office, residential, retail, hospitality, educational, industrial, and healthcare.
For fifteen years Cary taught courses in scheduling and estimating as an adjunct professor in the Civil Engineering Department at San Diego State
University.
Cary earned a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Minnesota and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Pomona College.
While in school Cary scored the highest scores awarded (800) on the SAT and GRE tests for mathematical aptitude.
